Drabbles

A/N: Here's the first of a few drabbles I plan on writing on the subject of Zalman. This one was written after the last day of school, so it's rather sad and emo. If it implies stuff that I usually object to...ignore the implications.

Time Flies

Time flies so fast. She can't believe it's over so soon, and he's leaving her. After all that's gone on in such a short period of time, it's finally drawing to a close. She acts aloof, trying to hold it in, but she betrays herself; she doesn't want him to leave. Emotions well up behind her eyes like tears, but don't flow as easily. She wants to leave him with something, a piece of a memory that he'll look at and think of her. She throws her arms around him, hoping that she will never to have to let go.

Old Habits

She looks into the windows as she walks along the outside of the building, as usual, and every time she sighs, disappointed. Her expectations lead to dissatisfaction. Old habits are hard to break. She knows he’s not going to be there, she knows he will never be there again, she knows she will be disappointed every time. But she can’t help herself; she continues to look, she continues to sigh, continues to be disappointed. But expectation is a small exhilaration, and with every disappointment, ever dissatisfaction, is a small satisfaction at the exhilaration of the expectation of the next time.
